As the Food Drive is rounding the last turn, the 1Ls look strong. However, I am sure the 2Ls and 3Ls have a few tricks up their sleeves. I want to thank Professor Nelson’s Commercial Law class for its $150 fund raiser today and also Professor Nelson for matching $50. I am always appreciative when students are willing to give. I was able to take that money today to Adluh Flour and turn it into 650 pounds of food!
Ok, enough on my Food Drive rant (although we are fighting the issue that the SNAP challenge makes other aware of, so my rant is warranted!). Today for breakfast I had a banana ($.23) and a cup of coffee (free from the Pro Bono office, notice a trend?); for lunch I had a frozen bag of pasta and vegetables ($1.42); and for dinner I had a chicken breast ($1.08) and instant mashed potatoes ($.44). I also had a cup of Bi-Lo brand soda ($.25). At a $3.42 total, I again am comfortably below my $4 allowance for the day. If you add the couple of piece of Halloween candy I had today (I couldn’t resist), I may be closer to $4 than my total indicates.
We also made the news! As I am sure you read in Pam’s post below, we made the front page of the Daily Gamecock (if you can get past the zombies that were the lead story…).
As I prepare for bed, I can say that I am a little hungry. Today was not quite as bad of a struggle as yesterday, but I have a feeling that this strict budget and dietary restrictions may catch up with me tomorrow. At least it will be Friday!!

650 lbs! That’s great, thanks Daniel! Glad we could incorporate a great local business like Adluh in our efforts to help the community. And thanks to Professor Nelson and the Commercial Law class!
